Picture this, an exam, one exam to get you into a 2 year master programme. One exam you can't fail and where you have to perform at your peak level.
Obviously you start studying weeks in advance. You get books from the library, you dust off your google skills and do your magic on the interweb. Sites come from everywhere, online tests, handy little things-to-know, mnemonic's and all other kinds of information. You store this in the hard drive you call your memory. Days pass, weeks pass you mentally prepare yourself while the days grow shorter. When the time finally comes you are ready for it. You know you gave it everything you got. There is nothing you could do possible do that you didn't do already. And to go in this perfect little world, you obviously nail the test and get into the programme, which you nail as well and get masters degree like you just finished pre-school and built blocks like a pro.
The scenario above is what you want. Or even better what you want to want. Every student is his right mind would do the exact above, you'd think... Not so much, at least, not for me.
Postponing is a magic word, it makes things go away, almost like real magic. You decide, ooooh I can do that later, that is not important right now, and poof it's gone. The stress, the annoying thoughts making you go study, they are all gone. But days grow short, weeks pass and before you know it the test is in 2 days! Study, I must... Frantically you start googling the subject. Oh that is a tiny bit more complicated then I thought at first hand, ooooh that's why I failed this in highschool as well. But, somehow, you find that you studied enough. Still a bit doubtful you go to bed the night before, much to late obviously due to long hours of sitting with the laptop on your lap pretending to yourself that you are studying, which you really aren't and just reading forums on gaming and other trivial matters.
Aaaand here we come back to where this post all started with, oversleeping. You never oversleep, half the time you're even awake before the alarm sounds. But not this day. This day you need to be ready for an important exam, so what do you do? YES oversleep... for the love of God why would you wake up when you really have to, when you could be spending time in bed. This loving warm bed, this bed that never kicks you out, never annoys you, and never ever wants you to answer stupid questions about whether or not an apostrophe is added to some word or not.
Well that was my day, (I made it in time due to extreme luck with a car, memories of the route to the uni from four years ago and luckily hardly any traffic jams on one of the most convoluted roads in Holland) how was yours.
