Matt's Game Corner!

RAWR ! HEADSHOT ! RAWR ! ←- This is me when I’m playing CS Source or COD: Black Ops - hell, if I do a big fat crit in WoW I yell RAWR ! So as you can tell, I am a very vivid gamer. I thoroughly enjoy getting my ass kicked in CS, as long as I’m getting it kicked with mates of mine. Nothing beats a good game with some good friends. Be it CS Source or soccer, badminton or WoW - getting together with friends and having a good game is the best fun you can have (Being drunk and partaking in these games further increases said fun).

While I mostly play on the PC, I do have a PS3 - but due to a lack of interesting games, I don’t play it much. RPG games for the PS3 have been sorely disappointing for me so far.

Games I play regularly:

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Counter Strike: Source
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
League of Legends (I suck at this)
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (I suck at this as well!)

Games I play less frequently:

Neverwinter Nights 2 + Expansions
Fallout 3
Dragon Age 2
Heroes of Might and Magic 5

Games I look forward to playing:

Titan: The name of Blizzards new MMO. An MMO built over an entirely new universe, but from what I’ve seen of Blizzards work so far, it can only be good =)
Diablo 3: I am a huge fan of Blizzard, and thus looking immensely forward to the next chapter of a straight-up awesome game. I hope the game can live up to the hype (Knowing Blizzard, it will!).
Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm - I cannot stress JUST HOW MUCH I look forward to the zerg campaign of SC2. The Terran campaign was without a shred of doubt the best RTS campaign I have ever played, not to mention the multiplayer portion being awesome and long-lasting.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Of what I have seen so far, the game is edging away from the Price and Soap perspective that I greatly enjoyed, and will be focusing more on the global-scale war that follows the events of MW2. I don’t have that high hopes for this game, but if nothing else, the multiplayer part will last me quite a while! If this game disappoints me much, I might try Battlefield 3.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - This game looks absolutely amazing, and will be installed on my computer the day it is released! I’ll take this chance to encourage everybody to watch the gameplay trailers released at E3 of Skyrim, a game shaping up to become my new favorite RPG.

For the PS3, I’ll probably be getting FIFA 2012 and Madden NFL 2012 - mostly because I feel like I need to give it another chance, and FIFA is a nice game for bro' downs!

That will be all for now, more updates will follow with all kinds of crazyness !

The one day where you don't want to...

Oversleep!

Picture this, an exam, one exam to get you into a 2 year master programme. One exam you can't fail and where you have to perform at your peak level.

Obviously you start studying weeks in advance. You get books from the library, you dust off your google skills and do your magic on the interweb. Sites come from everywhere, online tests, handy little things-to-know, mnemonic's and all other kinds of information. You store this in the hard drive you call your memory. Days pass, weeks pass you mentally prepare yourself while the days grow shorter. When the time finally comes you are ready for it. You know you gave it everything you got. There is nothing you could do possible do that you didn't do already. And to go in this perfect little world, you obviously nail the test and get into the programme, which you nail as well and get masters degree like you just finished pre-school and built blocks like a pro.

The scenario above is what you want. Or even better what you want to want. Every student is his right mind would do the exact above, you'd think... Not so much, at least, not for me.

Postponing is a magic word, it makes things go away, almost like real magic. You decide, ooooh I can do that later, that is not important right now, and poof it's gone. The stress, the annoying thoughts making you go study, they are all gone. But days grow short, weeks pass and before you know it the test is in 2 days! Study, I must... Frantically you start googling the subject. Oh that is a tiny bit more complicated then I thought at first hand, ooooh that's why I failed this in highschool as well. But, somehow, you find that you studied enough. Still a bit doubtful you go to bed the night before, much to late obviously due to long hours of sitting with the laptop on your lap pretending to yourself that you are studying, which you really aren't and just reading forums on gaming and other trivial matters.

Aaaand here we come back to where this post all started with, oversleeping. You never oversleep, half the time you're even awake before the alarm sounds. But not this day. This day you need to be ready for an important exam, so what do you do? YES oversleep... for the love of God why would you wake up when you really have to, when you could be spending time in bed. This loving warm bed, this bed that never kicks you out, never annoys you, and never ever wants you to answer stupid questions about whether or not an apostrophe is added to some word or not.

Well that was my day, (I made it in time due to extreme luck with a car, memories of the route to the uni from four years ago and luckily hardly any traffic jams on one of the most convoluted roads in Holland) how was yours.

The Who and What, but never the Why

The start of a new blog, a welcome challenge to say the least. Amidst the chaos of thoughts in our heads are a few ideas we’d like to share with you, you being of course our dear followers.
But first things first, who are we, why did we start this, and where the hell is my sandwich… Okay no sandwich Matt ate it, the bastard. I’m Flow, or Floris, and I have all these thoughts in my head that just don’t want to come out. I’m rather clueless about a lot of things but not so clueless on the more interesting stuff. I like to write, read, game and think about the meaning of life, or at least the meaning of my latest brainfart. I work with a small IT company and plan to start Uni again soon, media and journalism.

And I’m Matt, the bastard sandwich eater.. Like Floris I’m a young gun of many thoughts, some very philosophic, others terribly toxic. I immensely enjoy reading books, playing games, thinking about the big questions of life, and getting completely hammered! I’m currently studying software at a random University somewhere in the world - Not entirely loving it, all together hating it - Life as it should be!

As most love stories, we met terribly unromantic in an online game, called World of (forever addicted to) Warcraft. What this means is that we share this humble opinion that gaming is awesome, and like to talk about it, a lot. Which is what we will do here.

Of course there are other issues at stake, the eternal quest for world domination aside, as young males in the capitalist world there are a lot of things we come across day in n’ day out. The horrors of studying, (a)social life and the perils of love, and basically everything else someone in his early 20s has to deal with.

Now we’ll stop bothering you with this absolutely no-sense-making intro so you can go on with your meaningless daily lives while waiting for the real shit-to-hit-the-fan.

Flow n Matt, over and out!
